Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in one or more general‑purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, or equivalent).
  • Experience with shell scripting on both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Familiarity with structured content formats (XML, JSON, HTML).
  • Basic debugging, diagnostic, and system‑analysis skills.
  • Willingness to work with and improve legacy systems.
  • Interest in graphics or CAD formats (SVG, DWG, CAD tools).
  • Familiarity with modern build and automation tools (such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Curiosity about software architecture and a desire to contribute ideas to help modernize our toolchain.

Responsibilities

  • Work with design, development, and maintenance of key publications tooling, including XML/SGML transformation pipelines, production scripts, PDF utilities, and illustration tooling.
  • Support modernization efforts to maintain, migrate or retire legacy systems (Omnimark, SGML‑dependent workflows, version control and publications processes) and transition to more sustainable, automated solutions.
  • Assist with the building automation platforms, command‑line utilities, desktop applications and custom scripts used to generate and validate publication outputs.
  • Collaborate with writers, illustrators, and content managers to maintain tool reliability and continuously improve workflow efficiency.
  • Investigate issues within the publications tool ecosystem, propose solutions, and drive fixes to completion with minimal oversight.
