About The Position

Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud for Europe. The Cloud Platform team develops the systems behind it, including compute orchestration, Kubernetes, bare metal, storage, networking, and datacenter infrastructure. The Software Engineer will build Mistral’s serverless containers product, enabling developers to run AI applications, MCP servers, APIs, and managed workers without managing servers. The platform will support CPU and GPU workloads, scaling from zero to large numbers of instances and back down, on infrastructure operated by Mistral. The role involves building the platform end to end, from image delivery and workload placement to request routing and autoscaling. It also focuses on minimizing cold starts through techniques such as snapshotting, prewarming, and image-layer caching. The engineer will write Go, own architecture and key implementation decisions, and partner with Product Managers to shape a useful developer product.

Requirements

  • Have shipped production systems in Go.
  • Have built container or workload platforms, including areas such as orchestration, scheduling, isolation, or request routing.
  • Have deep Linux knowledge, including namespaces, cgroups, image layers, and page cache.
  • Have multi-tenancy instincts, including attention to density, isolation, and fairness across a shared fleet.
  • Have significant experience building complex backend or infrastructure systems.
  • Have partnered with product, design, and business teams to ship software used by real users.
  • Have a low-ego, team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Build the container platform end to end, including image delivery, placement, request routing, scale-up, and scale-to-zero across CPU and GPU.
  • Reduce cold starts through approaches such as snapshotting, prewarming, and image-layer caching.
  • Support AI workloads, including GPU-backed containers, streaming responses, long-lived connections, and low-cost idle MCP servers.
  • Write Go and own the architecture and the most challenging implementation decisions.
  • Partner with Product Managers to turn platform decisions into a product developers want to deploy on.

Benefits

  • Benefits may include healthcare coverage, parental leave, retirement plans, relocation support, wellness programs, meal allowances, transportation allowances, and other location-specific perks. Benefits vary by country.
