About The Position

At 1KOMMA5°, you will help build the energy system of the future through Heartbeat AI, connecting regional energy-system installation expertise with scalable software. The company’s platform integrates solar, storage, heat pumps, and electric mobility into an intelligent system connected to the electricity market in real time. In this role, you will develop core components for the Heartbeat AI Enterprise energy management system, spanning local IoT gateways and the cloud-native backend. You will build high-performance edge-controller software and cloud microservices, implement IoT and equipment-communication protocols, and enable data exchange between local energy installations and the virtual power plant. You will work in a cross-functional team with system architects, PLC developers, and product management to bring features for commercial energy management to the platform.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in computer science, software engineering, or a comparable qualification, or substantial professional software-development experience.
  • Very good programming skills in Go, ideally in cloud and microservices contexts.
  • Practical experience with Lua, for example in embedded or edge applications.
  • Solid understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; containerization with Docker and Kubernetes; and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience developing IoT solutions or edge-computing applications, preferably on Linux-based systems such as Raspberry Pi or industrial PCs.
  • Confident handling of common networking and IoT protocols such as MQTT and REST; familiarity with industrial communication such as Modbus is desirable.
  • Structured, solution-oriented working style and motivation to help build Europe’s largest decentralized virtual power plant.
  • Business-fluent written and spoken German and English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Go in cloud and microservices contexts.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication such as Modbus.
  • Experience with IoT or edge-computing applications on Linux-based systems, such as Raspberry Pi or industrial PCs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop core components for the Heartbeat AI Enterprise energy management system across edge gateways and cloud backend.
  • Write high-performance software for edge controllers, including system services and communication layers in Go and adaptable control scripts and protocol drivers in Lua.
  • Design and develop Go microservices for processing time-series data and telemetry and managing fleets across customer sites.
  • Implement IoT communication protocols, including MQTT and REST/gRPC, and local equipment communication protocols, including Modbus TCP/RTU.
  • Enable data flows between local energy installations and the virtual power plant to support automated control based on spot-market prices.
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team with system architects, PLC developers, and product management to deliver commercial energy-management features.

Benefits

  • Option to work from new offices in central Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich and/or remotely.
  • Use of technical equipment outside work for personal leisure.
  • Development opportunities and autonomy in a fast-growing company, with the ability to build independently and see the impact of your work.
  • Flat hierarchies, early responsibility during onboarding, and direct collaboration with members of management.
  • Work that contributes to the energy and mobility transition and the sustainable transformation of energy infrastructure.
  • Access to more than 7,600 sports partners through EGYM Wellpass.
  • JobRad bicycle leasing, including city bikes and e-bikes.
  • Benefits and discounts through Futurebens.
