About The Position

Uniquely positioned at the intersection of technology, data science, and healthcare, Verily transforms multimodal health data into insights, models, and actions that make healthcare more personalized, predictive, and precise. As a member of the Precision Health Platform engineering organization, you will take significant ownership of core components within the Data Refinery product —a system vital to Verily’s Data Ecosystem Solutions. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing modular, composable, and interoperable platform components that enable healthcare organizations to ingest, enrich, and harmonize disparate, multi-modal data into research-ready datasets. Your work will drive the technical direction for supporting critical research use cases, including drug development, patient trial matching, and AI development, helping our customers accelerate their research and commercialization efforts.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in software development.
  • 4+ years experience as a software developer, with a strong focus on large scale data processing or platform development.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
  • Expertise in building software and systems on any of: GCP, AWS or Azure (GCP preferred).
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Go, Python, or JavaScript.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with Go, Java, and/or SQL.
  • Proficiency in Apache Beam and its associated technologies for data ingestion and processing.
  • Experience with designing and implementing scalable data processing pipelines for data curation and harmonization using technologies like Apache Beam/Dataflow, Spark, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience or deep exposure to healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR, OMOP, DICOM), data modeling, or life sciences research environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and development of scalable, high-performance data pipelines for the Data Refinery Solution.
  • Architect and implement robust systems for the harmonization and enrichment of complex, multi-modal healthcare data, ensuring data quality and research readiness.
  • Drive best practices and technical standards within the team to effectively reduce the time and manual effort to go from source data to research-ready data.
  • Develop using industry-standard tools including GitHub, Google Cloud, Go, and Terraform to name a few.
