About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Software Development Engineers to develop state-of-the-art Linux-based networking platforms. You will join a team of engineers developing embedded routing platforms that enable one of the world's largest and most complex networks. The Data Plane team owns packet forwarding in networking devices, which is the core functionality of a networking switch. This role involves working with both the Linux Kernel for L2/L3 forwarding and management, and the underlying hardware, aiming to ensure the Kernel state and hardware state mirror each other. Expertise in Linux kernel and core networking is ideal, understanding how Linux manages forwarding and how that maps to the underlying forwarding hardware.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated track record of designing and implementing Linux-based solutions on embedded devices, ideally for networking products.
  • Passion about changing the way data center networking is done.
  • Expertise in Linux kernel and core networking.
  • Understanding of how Linux manages forwarding and how that maps to the underlying forwarding hardware.
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities
