About The Position

This high impact role is involved in the design and development of cable accessories and separable connectors for Eaton’s Line Installation and Protective Equipment (LIPE) product line. In this role, creativity and innovation are focused on leading teams and developing new electro-mechanical product solutions for application on electrical power systems. This role is a key contributor to cross functional project teams that push concepts through a formal project process. It is expected that you will have the ability to lead and execute small projects or serve as a core team member on large projects. This position works directly with a broad set of technologies involving polymers, rubber moldings, castings, and metal fabrications. Assignments range in scope from high level system concepts to detailed sub-system development and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution is preferred
  • Knowledge in the application of medium voltage electrical distribution equipment is a plus
  • Knowledge of separable connectors and cable accessories is a bonus
  • Experience with engineering related projects would be beneficial
  • Kinematic/Dynamic Analysis experience would be an advantage
  • Six Sigma green belt or black belt trained is desired
  • Experience in Engineering analysis, digital simulation, and 3D modeling (CAD, FEA, statistical analysis, software applications, electrical/mechanical analysis tools, etc.) is preferred
  • Product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Creatively and efficiently solve design challenges by understanding the elements within a design that are critical for success, while eliminating the non-value added elements
  • Ability to translate internal and external customer requirements into measurable performance criteria, as well as being able to identify and resolve poorly defined or missing requirements
  • Develop sub-system functional and reliability test plans, and coordinate the execution of the tests using both internal and external lab resources
  • Design for Cost/Design for Manufacture Analysis (DFM/DFA) on individual parts, subassemblies with the ability to propose alternate materials and methods of assembly and manufacture.
