About The Position

SOFICO Intelligence is seeking an engineer to build the agentic AI systems behind Velona, a production multi-agent platform that analyzes enterprise financial, leasing, fleet, and mobility-management data. The role focuses on greenfield development of Go-based microservices that orchestrate LLM reasoning, autonomous agents, and real-time data in a cloud-native, big-data environment. The position offers meaningful ownership and collaboration with experienced engineers on systems designed to identify issues such as fraud, billing errors, ghost assets, and risk. Approximately 85% of the role involves engineering the AI platform: developing agentic systems and scalable backend services, building analytical tools and agents, and creating real-time streaming experiences and autonomous background pipelines. The remaining approximately 15% involves contributing to the broader SOFICO Intelligence platform and related SOFICO engineering systems, and helping raise engineering standards across the combined group. The team practices Agile principles, continuous code review, frequent production releases, and close collaboration with QA/SDET and DevOps, with engineers responsible for their code after deployment. The team works primarily with Go, alongside Python and JavaScript, and uses PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, and WebSocket/streaming interfaces. SOFICO Intelligence is remote-first. Benefits include US employee medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible PTO, and support for professional growth through conferences, advanced training, and certifications.

Requirements

  • Provide a portfolio demonstrating coding proficiency, quality, security understanding, and attention to performance, such as a GitHub profile, public projects, or a blog.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software development and architecture.
  • Comfort working across multiple programming languages, such as Go, JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
  • Experience building web or backend applications proven in production to scale horizontally.
  • Preference for clean, modular, well-tested code.
  • Experience with RESTful API principles and working knowledge of common authentication and authorization practices.
  • Production experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to collaborate, prioritize work, give and receive constructive criticism, and work effectively with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Go, Node.js, and/or Python.
  • Interest or experience in LLMs, agents, or AI systems, such as building with model APIs, tool-calling, orchestration, or retrieval.
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with event-bus architectures such as AMQP (RabbitMQ) or Kafka.
  • Experience with data stores and warehouses such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, BigQuery, or Databricks.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue.js, React, Ember, or Angular.
  • Familiarity with enterprise back-office or ERP environments, including Java back ends and relational databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build agentic AI systems for Velona, including LLM orchestration loops, autonomous and supervisor-coordinated agents, and tools that reason over fleet data.
  • Develop high-scale, user- and business-facing backend services, primarily in Go, with Python and JavaScript across the stack, emphasizing performance and reliability.
  • Build and integrate tools and agents that perform analytical reasoning over a multi-year proprietary fleet-data asset while maintaining strict multi-tenant isolation.
  • Engineer real-time streaming experiences using WebSocket and autonomous background pipelines for overnight analysis at scale.
  • Design and consume RESTful and event-driven internal APIs, and build robust, observable, cost-aware services.
  • Research models, frameworks, and techniques and propose technical and process improvements.
  • Participate in continuous code review and share responsibility for quality across the project.
  • Collaborate with QA/SDET and DevOps to support evaluation, testing, and deployment, and own code after it reaches production.
  • Contribute to the broader SOFICO Intelligence platform and related SOFICO engineering systems, connecting the AI layer to the systems and data it relies on.
  • Help raise engineering standards across the combined group.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for US employees.
  • Flexible PTO policy.
  • Support for growth through conferences, advanced training, and certifications.
  • Remote-first work environment.
