Software Engineer Agentic AI

Sofico•Dallas, TX

About The Position

SOFICO Intelligence is seeking a software engineer to build the agentic AI systems behind Velona, its production multi-agent platform for analyzing complex business and operational data. The role focuses primarily on designing Go-based microservices that orchestrate LLM reasoning, autonomous agents, and real-time data in a cloud-native, big-data environment. It is greenfield engineering rather than maintenance of a legacy system, with meaningful technical ownership and collaboration across an experienced team. The engineer will develop backend services and analytical tools that reason over proprietary fleet data, including real-time streaming experiences and autonomous overnight analysis pipelines. The role also contributes to the broader SOFICO Intelligence platform and connected SOFICO engineering systems. The team works remotely, follows Agile principles, practices continuous code review, and releases to production frequently with strong CI/CD. The position is remote-first; benefits described include health care for US employees, flexible PTO, and support for professional growth through conferences, advanced training, and certifications.

Requirements

  • A portfolio demonstrating coding proficiency, quality, security understanding, and attention to performance, such as a GitHub profile, public projects, or blog.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software development and architecture.
  • Comfort working across multiple programming languages, such as Go, JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
  • Experience building production web or backend applications that scale horizontally.
  • Preference for clean, modular, well-tested code.
  • Experience with RESTful API principles and working knowledge of common authentication and authorization practices.
  • Production experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Collaborative problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize work while collaborating with a team, and ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Curiosity about AI and interest in building systems that reason.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Go, Node.js, and/or Python.
  • Interest or experience in LLMs, agents, or AI systems, including model APIs, tool-calling, orchestration, or retrieval.
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with event-bus architectures such as AMQP (RabbitMQ) or Kafka.
  • Experience with data stores and warehouses such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, BigQuery, or Databricks.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue.js, React, Ember, or Angular.
  • Familiarity with enterprise back-office or ERP environments, including Java back ends and relational databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, or Postgres.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build agentic AI systems for Velona, including LLM-orchestration loops, autonomous and supervisor-coordinated agents, and their analytical tools.
  • Develop high-scale, user- and business-facing backend services, primarily in Go, with Python and JavaScript across the stack.
  • Build and integrate tools and agents that perform analytical reasoning over multi-year proprietary fleet data while maintaining strict multi-tenant isolation.
  • Engineer real-time WebSocket streaming experiences and autonomous background pipelines for overnight analysis at scale.
  • Design and consume RESTful and event-driven internal APIs, and build robust, observable, cost-aware services.
  • Research models, frameworks, and techniques and propose technical and process improvements.
  • Participate in continuous code review and contribute to shared ownership of project quality.
  • Work with QA/SDET and DevOps to support evaluation, testing, and deployment, and take ownership of code after production release.
  • Contribute to the broader SOFICO Intelligence platform and, where relevant, the wider SOFICO engineering environment.
  • Help raise engineering standards across the combined group.

Benefits

  • Competitive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision health care for US employees.
  • Flexible PTO policy.
  • Support for growth through conferences, advanced training, and certifications.
