The DVX Mobile Core team develops and advances the architecture of Netflix’s Android member app. It applies broadly available Netflix systems and infrastructure to Android and works with engineering groups across the company to enable efficient, reusable patterns and canvases for member-facing experiences. This work includes engineering improvements to user metrics and cleaner development patterns for product teams. The role owns major, multi-quarter initiatives that help other engineers work faster and with greater confidence. Focus areas include building coherent, reusable architecture—such as server-driven UI, data-centric app development, modularization, and unidirectional state flow; making quality measurable through testing, telemetry, and reliability standards; delivering an extensible player framework; and turning emerging technologies, including AI, into practical engineering tools. The engineer takes ambiguous problems from idea through adoption, defines scope and technical trade-offs, delivers and measures outcomes, and influences technical roadmaps with minimal supervision. The role also builds UI infrastructure, documentation, migration paths, automated tests, and telemetry for other teams to adopt. It involves understanding engineers’ needs, mentoring less-experienced colleagues, and evaluating emerging Android technologies. Netflix describes the position as offering substantial ownership and business context, with work that can benefit more than 100 engineers and hundreds of millions of members. The role works with peers across a wide range of devices and network conditions in a culture emphasizing open communication.
