About The Position

AMD is seeking an influential software engineer to improve the performance of key applications and benchmarks. The role is part of a core team working with current hardware and software technology. The successful candidate will work with AMD architecture specialists to improve future products, use data to guide optimization, keep informed about software and hardware trends, design and develop AMD technologies, participate in ASIC and hardware bring-ups, and debug existing issues. The role also involves leading optical transceiver validation and platform validation activities, particularly across PCIe and optical technologies, while collaborating with hardware, firmware, software, and distributed teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of PCIe architecture, link training, device discovery, and PCIe enumeration mechanisms for system-level validation and debugging.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including analysis of complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with different teams across AMD.
  • Ability to technically lead a small validation/platform team, define priorities, and mentor engineers.
  • Experience collaborating with remote and geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PCIe virtualization technologies, including SR-IOV (Single Root I/O Virtualization).
  • Experience leading optical transceiver validation across functionality, interoperability, performance, reliability, and compliance testing.

Responsibilities

  • Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products.
  • Apply a data-minded approach to target optimization efforts.
  • Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially algorithms and architecture.
  • Design and develop new AMD technologies.
  • Participate in new ASIC and hardware bring-ups.
  • Debug and fix existing issues, and research more efficient ways to accomplish the same work.
  • Develop technical relationships with peers and partners.
  • Lead and execute optical transceiver validation activities, including functionality, interoperability, performance, reliability, and compliance testing across multiple platform configurations.
  • Support system-level validation and debugging involving PCIe architecture, link training, device discovery, and PCIe enumeration.
  • Drive platform bring-up, validation, and issue resolution with hardware, firmware, and software development teams.
  • Technically lead a small validation/platform team, define priorities, and mentor engineers.
  • Collaborate with remote and geographically distributed teams across time zones to support timely communication and project milestone delivery.
  • Analyze and resolve complex system-level issues spanning hardware, firmware, and software.
