About The Position

This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency. Whoever fills this position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency. A background check including BCI and FBI fingerprint check may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug test may be a requirement of the hiring process. Requirements

  • Option 1: 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology (Microsoft .Net Environment).
  • Option 2: Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems AND 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology (Microsoft .Net Environment).
  • Option 3: Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology (Microsoft .Net Environment).
  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment.
  • Experience in the required, primary technology (Microsoft .Net Environment).
  • Experience in the secondary technology (Structured Query Language (SQL)).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or modify programs for computer applications.
  • Perform testing and debugging.
  • Assist with analysis and design.
  • Read, write, extract and/or report from individual file(s).
  • Create and/or modify existing program modules (the creation of static content or graphics related to web-design is not software development).
  • Use report generators, data manipulation tools, data query tools, program tracing/debugging tools, software development tools and versioning tools as required.
