Requirements

  • Experience working in Agentic software development.
  • Actively use AI to augment leadership practice, automating routine management tasks to create space to focus on work requiring human judgment.
  • Successful track record as a software development manager working with cloud-based technologies.
  • Experience in end-to-end SaaS product development, at scale, in enterprise environments.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge, including at a code level, and bring hands-on experience with AI-led development to accurately engage with the team, validate assumptions, and drive sound engineering decisions.
  • Provide guidance and ensure the team is making sound technology decisions while balancing business and technical constraints.
  • Lead with empathy and have a high degree of self-awareness.
  • Help build business context for the team to foster a sense of team excellence.
  • Passionate, not pedantic, about development methodologies and able to adapt and change approaches.
  • Take satisfaction in leaving code, processes, and people better than when you got there.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams in the AI-DLC process to deliver software solutions at pace.
  • Own team throughput within the AI-DLC, measured across initiative, bolt, and PR-level cycle time and quality metrics.
  • Ensure initiatives enter inception with high quality bolt-ready artifacts.
  • Facilitate Mob Elaboration and Mob Construction to produce results, aligned product and engineering intent from inception and quality code shipped to production from Construction.
  • Maintain “human in the loop, always” as an engineering discipline, ensuring developers understand and can defend AI-generated code and PR processes ensure quality outcomes.
  • Actively manage the bolt / BAU (business as usual) balance within the team, protecting team focus while ensuring key BAU is completed.
  • Build a team culture of delivery of high quality outputs at pace, where the team understands when to challenge AI output and when to ship.
  • Align team activities with Benevity Scorecard and clarify the link between the work and the Scorecard/Playbook as necessary.
  • Direct functional people leadership: Recruiting, performance management, team culture and engagement, budget and cost control.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge across domains, with the ability to apply AI effectively across the software development lifecycle to drive better engineering and delivery outcomes.
  • Engage with the team to validate assumptions, provide guidance, and ensure the team is making sound technology decisions while balancing business, engineering, and architectural constraints.
  • Accountable for timely delivery of the team's work commitments.
  • Actively balance business, engineering, and architectural objectives when decision making.
  • Ensure all members of the team are adhering to Benevity governance, controls, and standards.
  • Provide visibility into team's execution via performance measures and reporting.
  • Understand current, unspoken, and future business context for the team and ensure resource allocation, skill development, and cost decisions align with business needs.
  • Coordinate initiative sequencing and backlog readiness with product management, ensuring the team is always pulling work that is ready for bolt or BAU.
  • Ensure that technical team leaders and the team are making decisions that reflect their need to consider documented or undocumented standards, costs, and architectural roadmap.
  • Foster a culture of continuous innovation within the team's day-to-day work, encouraging engineers to identify and close gaps in the business or processes; ensure the team makes use of dedicated innovation time to pursue and complete ideas that wouldn't otherwise surface through normal delivery.
  • Ensure that teams are correctly resourced and flag any resourcing issues to senior leadership.
