About The Position

Ryan is seeking a Summer 2027 software engineering intern to help build platform capabilities that enable development teams across the firm to deliver applications addressing client needs. Ryan’s engineering teams support Tax.com, the technology engine powering its tax teams. The intern will contribute to shared services, portal experiences, reusable components, and developer tools while gaining hands-on experience with cloud solutions. Working with engineers and collaborating with product and design, the intern will learn how enterprise applications are developed, tested, secured, and delivered. AI tools will be used to accelerate learning, prototype ideas, and iterate while contributing to a defined engineering project. Primary technologies include .NET and C#, React and TypeScript, and Microsoft Azure, with some exposure to Python.

Requirements

• Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
• Programming coursework or experience building software through class projects, personal projects, open-source contributions, or prior work.
• Anticipated graduation date within one year of the internship.
• Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8.
• Minimum of 6–12 technical credit hours, depending on practice.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to explain work, ask questions, respond to feedback, and collaborate with teammates.
• Ability to organize tasks, manage ambiguity, and make progress in a fast-moving engineering team.
• Ability to work independently on a defined task and seek guidance when needed.
• Basic understanding of programming and debugging.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with C#/.NET, React, TypeScript, Git, APIs, automated testing, Azure, or AI development tools.
• Exposure to Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve software features, shared services, reusable application components, or developer tools with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Build and integrate APIs, shared libraries, and React single-page applications that support multiple Ryan development teams.
• Explore Microsoft Azure services and contribute to development, testing, or deployment workflows.
• Use AI tools to accelerate learning, prototyping, coding, and debugging, and review and validate work with the team.
• Write automated tests, investigate defects, and participate in code reviews to improve software quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to understand user needs, demonstrate progress, and incorporate feedback.
• Document developed work so other teams can understand, adopt, and maintain it.
