About The Position

Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization supports Apple’s technology systems and services. Within the Apple Retail Apps and Services Quality Engineering team, this role focuses on quality engineering and test automation for the eCommerce platform. The engineer conducts continuous quality analysis, identifies automation opportunities, defines test approaches, and implements scalable solutions to maintain high quality standards. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and suites; collaborating with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage; and defining requirements and solutions that streamline testing. The engineer is expected to understand software workflows and use cases, ensure system testability, communicate testing status and quality metrics throughout testing, and compile quality outcomes at project completion. The position also focuses on reducing regression test cycles and using ML and AI in automation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent related work experience.
At least 5 years of hands-on quality engineering automation experience.
Strong programming experience in Java, JavaScript, or Python, with the ability to build reusable test frameworks.
Deep understanding of test design methodologies, CI/CD practices, and large-scale test automation.
Experience with test frameworks or tools such as Playwright, JUnit, or equivalent.
Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, and QA processes.
Experience developing test plans and building tools and test frameworks.
Experience with JUnit, TestNG, or similar testing frameworks.
Programming experience with automation scripting, tools, or test harnesses such as Playwright or Selenium.
Solid understanding of software build tools and CI/CD integrations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to debug and resolve complex technical issues.
Excellent communication skills, adaptability in fast-paced environments with frequent context switching, and a strong commitment to ownership.

Nice To Haves

Experience testing AI/ML applications.

Responsibilities

Conduct continuous quality analysis and identify opportunities for automation.
Define test approaches and implement scalable, well-architected testing solutions.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites for the eCommerce platform.
Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
Implement and execute test plans and test cases.
Define requirements and propose solutions to streamline the testing process.
Engage with engineering teams to understand software workflows and use cases, and ensure system testability.
Provide timely, accurate updates on testing status and quality metrics throughout testing phases.
Compile a summary of quality outcomes upon project completion.
Debug and resolve complex technical issues.
Build quality test plans and automation tools to reduce regression test cycle time, including using ML and AI in automation.
Work with cross-functional teams to develop test plans, execute test cases, and deliver high-quality products.
Identify workflow gaps or inefficiencies and suggest process improvements.
