Software Developer - Core Services
About The Position
U-Haul is seeking a Software Developer to join its Core Services Contract Software Development Team, which supports critical systems across the U-Haul software ecosystem. The role designs, develops, tests, and maintains robust, scalable APIs and services, along with supporting user interfaces, using the Microsoft technology stack, .NET, C#, SQL, Postgres, modern front-end frameworks and libraries, and related technologies. Systems use Kafka event streams and emphasize resilience and scalability. The developer collaborates with cross-functional teams and business units, provisions and monitors cloud resources through Azure Portal, troubleshoots and optimizes applications, and integrates systems across the broader technology environment. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The position is located at 2727 N Central Ave, Phoenix, Arizona.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages and design, with strong database experience.
- Experience with Kafka or similar event streams and producer/consumer or pub/sub relationships.
- Strong understanding of modern software design principles and their application to scalable systems, as well as modern software best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work professionally and efficiently with team members and other teams.
- Self-starter with a commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team, maintain ongoing communication, and respond helpfully to other teams’ questions and requests.
- Experience with the Microsoft stack and Azure DevOps and Cloud Portal; Kibana, Elasticsearch, or Grafana; Dynatrace; data design, creation, querying, and stored procedures; WCF, REST, or Web APIs; and API testing tools.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly, with an interest in exploring new technologies.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with cloud platforms and services.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Scrumban Agile methodology.
- Previous experience designing scalable APIs.
