About The Position

Ameritas is seeking a Packaged Systems developer to support Individual business line efforts. This role involves learning and understanding packaged software, working within a vendor toolset using a given framework to build functional and useful solutions, and creating APIs to facilitate communication among various software solutions. The position is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining application software in accordance with business needs. The individual will routinely work with others within their work area to develop and unit test software programs of low to moderate complexity under close supervision. Success in this role requires strong written/verbal communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical problem-solving abilities.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Understanding of coding and basic principles of application development required.
  • Ability to read and write SQL required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python, React, JavaScript and Java desired.
  • Self-starting approach to assignments and responsibilities desired.

Responsibilities

  • Design / Develop solutions utilizing custom packaged insurance software
  • Design / Develop custom applications using Java, JavaScript, or custom scripting languages
  • Work with automation tools while working with a range of developers and technologies
  • Work with a cross section of IT resources to enhance existing, or develop new Java applications
  • Work with JavaScript and other scripting languages
  • Work with SQL or other data query languages
