Software Developer III

SCCU Career•Miramar, FL

About The Position

At Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU), the Software Developer III designs, codes, develops, tests, integrates, maintains, and troubleshoots financial applications, core systems, web applications, services, and sites to meet business needs. The role also provides tier III technical support and assists users with routine application and hardware issues, tracking incidents and escalating non-routine issues as appropriate. The developer works with vendors, IT team members, users, and department managers to determine software and hardware requirements, evaluates configurations, develops web security safeguards, and contributes to project planning and delivery. The position uses AI tools throughout analysis and development, while remaining accountable for validating generated code and content for correctness, security, maintainability, testing, and compliance with organizational standards. This is a six-month contract-to-hire position. The posted schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of prior experience in software analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, integration, deployment, support, and documentation of core and web-based systems following the software development lifecycle, or a combination of applicable experience, education, and training that provides the knowledge and skills needed for the job.
  • Front-end web development skills, including React, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, SASS, Bootstrap, and WCMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with .NET, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps Server, C#, SQL Server and/or other relational databases, and Node.js.
  • Experience with client-server concepts, object-oriented programming, web services, and Waterfall/Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to end-user trouble calls, resolve routine application software problems, and assist with hardware issues remotely when possible.
  • Route non-routine support questions to the appropriate resource.
  • Track tickets in an incident management system, record problems and resolutions for a shared knowledge base, and escalate or assign issues as needed.
  • Design, develop, test, and integrate moderately complex internal and external core and web applications, services, and sites, including maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in determining the cost and schedule of software projects using current and proven software engineering practices.
  • Provide tier III technical support for staff using internal and external core and web applications and systems.
  • Consult with vendors, IT team members, users, and department managers to determine requirements for new or modified software and hardware.
  • Test new hardware and software configurations for usability and proper function, including cross-browser functionality.
  • Develop web security safeguards and technologies.
  • Meet assigned project deadlines and goals.
  • Review, analyze, and modify application systems, including encoding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Analyze and resolve application-system problems, and detect, diagnose, and report related issues.
  • Use AI to analyze requirements, identify questions and gaps, explore implementation approaches, generate or refactor code, explain existing code, and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Create clear AI prompts and context that communicate objectives, business and application context, technical requirements, constraints, coding standards, acceptance criteria, existing patterns, examples, and expected output format.
  • Iteratively refine prompts and context rather than relying on a single AI response.
  • Use AI where appropriate to create or improve tests, documentation, code-review summaries, implementation checklists, deployment instructions, release notes, troubleshooting guidance, and knowledge articles.
  • Use AI to help identify security concerns, inappropriate dependencies, error-handling gaps, maintainability issues, missing tests, technical debt, and potential performance concerns.
  • Validate AI-generated code and content before use, ensuring it is correct, secure, maintainable, properly tested, and aligned with organizational standards.
