About The Position

At Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU), members are central to the organization’s work. SCCU has been committed since 1951 to delivering financial services founded on integrity and a people-first philosophy. This is a six-month contract-to-hire position. The Software Developer III designs, codes, and develops new financial applications and web-based systems, and modifies existing core financial applications and web-based systems. The role designs, develops, tests, integrates, maintains, upgrades, and troubleshoots moderately complex internal and external applications, services, and sites to meet business needs. It also provides tier III support for applications and systems, responds to end-user trouble calls, and works with users, vendors, IT staff, and managers to determine software and hardware requirements. The developer uses AI tools to support requirements analysis, implementation, code generation or refactoring, testing, documentation, security reviews, and troubleshooting. AI-generated output must be validated; the developer remains responsible for its correctness, security, maintainability, testing, and compliance with organizational standards. SCCU describes a member-focused, not-for-profit mission, flexible schedule options, and opportunities for career growth through internal promotions and on-the-job training. The stated work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Compensation is $113,900.00–$120,628.00.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of prior experience with software analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, integration, deployment, support, and documentation of core and web-based systems following the software development lifecycle, or a combination of applicable experience, education, and training that provides the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Front-end web development skills, including React, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, SASS, Bootstrap, and WCMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with .NET, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps Server, C#, SQL Server and/or other relational databases, and Node.js.
  • Experience with client-server concepts, object-oriented programming, web services, and Waterfall and Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to end-user trouble calls, resolve routine application software problems, assist with hardware issues remotely when possible, route non-routine questions, and track, document, assign, or escalate tickets in an incident management system.
  • Design, develop, test, and integrate moderately complex internal and external core and web applications, services, and sites, including maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in determining software project costs and schedules using current and proven software engineering practices.

  • Test hardware and software configurations for usability and proper function, including cross-browser functionality, and develop web security safeguards and technologies.
  • Meet assigned project deadlines and goals.
  • Review, analyze, and modify application systems, including encoding, testing, debugging, and documentation; analyze, resolve, diagnose, and report application-system problems.
  • Use AI to analyze requirements, identify questions and gaps, explore implementation approaches, generate or refactor code, explain existing code, and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Create effective AI prompts and context that specify objectives, business and application context, technical requirements, constraints, coding standards, acceptance criteria, existing patterns, examples, and expected output formats.
  • Use iterative prompting and refine context rather than relying on a single AI response.
  • Use AI where appropriate to create or improve tests, documentation, code-review summaries, implementation checklists, deployment instructions, release notes, troubleshooting guidance, and knowledge articles.
  • Use AI to help identify security concerns, inappropriate dependencies, error-handling gaps, maintainability issues, missing tests, technical debt, and potential performance concerns.
  • Validate AI-generated code and content before use and ensure outputs are correct, secure, maintainable, properly tested, and aligned with organizational standards.
