About The Position

Priority Dispatch Corp. is hiring a Software Developer III to provide expert-level full-stack design and development across front-end, back-end, APIs, databases, and integrations. The role creates and maintains software products such as applications, web pages, client portals, reports, and queries, and interfaces with clients, customers, and internal users to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deploy solutions. It also provides technical leadership, trains team members, and supports software development best practices. A significant focus is building real-time audio and telephony systems that capture, process, and deliver live call traffic. The developer will build systems for mirrored SIP trunk traffic, parse SIP signaling, reconstruct RTP streams into call audio, handle codecs and audio formats, extract and store call metadata, and provide real-time audio delivery. The role uses a hybrid work model and leverages AI-assisted and agentic development tools, while requiring rigorous review and validation of generated code. Priority Dispatch Corp. is a small, fast-growing provider of consulting, training, and software products for the public safety market, based in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Its products and services support Police, Fire, and Medical emergency dispatching, including ProQA software, AQUA quality improvement software, training, consulting, and Academy accreditation support.

Requirements

At least 6 years of professional software development experience and a track record of delivering complex projects.
Strong back-end development expertise in C# (.NET / ASP.NET Core) and Python (such as FastAPI or Django), or equivalent depth in another modern back-end stack.
Ability to design and build robust, secure APIs and services.
Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, data-layer design, and efficient, well-structured queries.
Proficiency with a modern JavaScript/TypeScript front-end framework such as React, Next.js, Angular, or Vue, including component architecture, state management, routing, server-side rendering, and data fetching and caching patterns.
Ability to build responsive, accessible user interfaces from design specifications, with attention to cross-device compatibility, performance, and usability.
Experience with full-stack architecture and design, and building scalable, reusable, maintainable systems end to end.
Strong experience with cloud deployment and integration across Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud, including CI/CD pipelines and environment configuration.
Hands-on daily use of AI-assisted and agentic development tools, with the engineering ability to critically review, test, and validate generated code.
Experience mentoring junior- and mid-level developers.
Expertise with Git and branching strategies.
Proficiency in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing and modern testing frameworks.
Experience with VoIP/telephony protocols and systems (SIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP), or equivalent phone-system, PBX, or call-center platform experience.
Experience leading teams or managing technical projects.
Strong leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience, including relevant boot camps and industry certifications.
Ability to code, collaborate, develop prototypes, and carry projects from start to final product; ability to multitask technical problems efficiently.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable, reusable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
Lead implementation of complex features and resolve high-impact technical issues.
Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and design principles.
Improve system performance and scalability through code and architecture improvements.
Work with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA and UX/UI.
Guide and mentor junior- and mid-level developers, conduct code reviews, and promote continuous learning.
Use agentic AI development tools to design, build, and refactor software, and rigorously review and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
Take ownership of technical project aspects, support timely delivery, break down complex tasks, and identify and mitigate risks during project planning.
Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends, and propose and implement improvements to processes, tools, and code quality.
Design, build, and maintain software that captures and processes mirrored SIP trunk traffic via switch SPAN or port mirroring, parses SIP signaling, and reconstructs RTP streams into call audio.
Develop audio components for codec decoding and encoding, audio file formats, and extraction and storage of call metadata.
Implement real-time delivery mechanisms such as WebSockets, gRPC, or WebRTC for live audio consumption.
