About The Position

This role involves developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining enterprise software applications, with a strong focus on Java and SQL. The developer will be responsible for analyzing application performance, implementing optimization strategies, and creating technical documentation and software design artifacts. The position is for a full-time contract role located in Austin, TX, offering a hybrid/telework arrangement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 15+ years of Java application development experience.
  • 10+ years of SQL database development and administration experience.
  • 8+ years supporting and enhancing large enterprise applications in a collaborative development environment.
  • 5+ years of Linux administration and application deployment experience.
  • Experience developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining enterprise software applications.
  • Strong experience analyzing application performance and implementing optimization strategies.
  • Experience developing technical documentation and software design artifacts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, especially JIRA.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development environments.
  • Experience supporting State Government applications.
  • Experience working with the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
  • Experience modernizing legacy mainframe applications into Java/SQL-based architectures.
  • Experience with enterprise software modernization and migration initiatives.
