About The Position

Amentum is hiring a mid-level software developer/engineer for a junior software development team supporting a project focused on difficult-to-process mission data. The team analyzes communication signals and data sources to determine how tools and applications can ingest the data. The position also uses customer-provided AI tools to support software lifecycle activities, including documentation creation, source code reviews, draft design review documentation, source-code repository integration, and test creation and reporting. The team consists of the candidate, another software developer, and a signals analyst. The broader contract supports more than 12 efforts involving varying levels of hardware and software development. Projects span front-end equipment configuration and maintenance, back-end repositories, dashboards, and the full data-processing thread. Teams work directly with customers to discuss requirements, identify solutions, and determine implementation approaches, while planning for future needs. The software engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems based on documented requirements. The role includes testing and reviewing software components, documenting test results, resolving software problem reports, and applying software development and design methodologies appropriate to the environment. It also contributes to system design decisions, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS use, and requirements analysis. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday, with start and end times determined by the candidate and team.
