About The Position

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. In this role as a SDE II, you will be part of the core technical team building the ground based traffic processing pipelines for connecting Kuiper’s satellite network to the external world. This opportunity will afford you an exciting SDE role in Amazon Leo that would enable you to architect and build software from the ground up and drive the engineering culture of the team. Based on the nature of work on this job, data networking related experience is a big plus, like TCP/IP, routing, switching or packet processing. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Data networking related experience is a big plus, like TCP/IP, routing, switching or packet processing.
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Develop code, build CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and dashboards for monitoring health of systems and data pipelines.
  • Work with multiple cross functional teams to gather requirements, design, develop, deploy, and operate the infrastructure you build.
  • Develop and mentor junior and new team members.
  • Engineer and build a cloud service that is reliable and available to provide connectivity for our customers.
  • Work on features that enhance the quality of service and security for our customers.
  • Collaborate and work on initiatives across multiple teams to build networking functions on AWS cloud infrastructure and set best practices for software development processes.
  • Operate our own service fleets and handle our customer issues to provide the best experience for our customers.
