Requirements

  • 6-8 years of proven knowledge and hands-on experience in software asset management within either the government or private sector.
  • Proficiency in office productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing, compliance, inventory management, and lifecycle tracking.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical and procedural information.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience leading or facilitating meetings, discussions, or briefings for both small and large groups.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, stakeholders, and departments to support asset tracking and software compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM), Configuration Management Database (CMDB), or asset tracking systems is a plus.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph eligibility may be required based on contract specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of software assets, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, utilization tracking, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of software licenses and entitlements to ensure compliance with vendor agreements and organizational policies.
  • Develop and implement processes to track, manage, and report on software usage and licensing metrics across enterprise environments.
  • Coordinate with procurement, IT, and security teams to support audits, license true-ups, and contract renewals.
  • Analyze software asset data to identify optimization opportunities, reduce cost, and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Use productivity tools (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to prepare documentation, reports, and executive-level presentations.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to ensure clear communication of requirements and status updates.
  • Maintain documentation related to software acquisition, licensing agreements, support contracts, and compliance reports.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of asset management policies and procedures.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, licensing trends, and regulatory compliance requirements affecting software asset management.
