About The Position

SONIFI Health is seeking a Software Architect to define the architecture, design standards, and technical direction of their software solutions. This remote, individual contributor role involves significant technical leadership, working across various departments to design end-to-end solutions that balance innovation, cost, maintainability, performance, security, compliance, and business objectives. The architect will influence solution design and delivery, establish architectural best practices, and provide technical direction and coaching to software engineers without direct supervisory responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience
  • At least 3 years in architecture or technical leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise and solution architecture methodologies, domain-driven design, and software design patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting systems on AWS, including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, and related cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency with REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs; message queues including SNS, SQS, and RabbitMQ; and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with microservices, containerized environments including Podman, Docker, and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, data protection, and secure software development practices.
  • Exceptional communication and technical leadership skills, including the ability to articulate complex ideas, influence technical decisions, build consensus across teams, and discuss technical issues in a way that supports positive business outcomes.
  • Strong strategic problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical depth with business priorities, exercise significant independent judgment, and develop pragmatic architectural recommendations for company leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Healthcare technology experience, including exposure to EMR/EHR systems, HL7/FHIR standards, or healthcare data workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document solution architectures for SONIFI Health applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, performance requirements, regulatory needs, and business objectives.
  • Lead high-level design decisions for complex projects, setting direction for system components, integrations, and technology selection while maintaining architectural consistency across applications for scalability, maintainability, and interoperability.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Program Managers to ensure architecture supports business strategy, budget, and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering teams to translate architecture into detailed technical designs and guide implementation throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies and frameworks, including AWS cloud platforms, messaging systems, databases, and integration tools.
  • Champion microservices and modular architectures where appropriate to support maintainability and independent scaling.
  • Provide architectural oversight for system performance, reliability, security, and compliance, including HIPAA and SOC 2.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure and Security teams to validate system design, cloud configurations, and deployment strategies.
  • Contribute to architecture governance through review boards, documentation standards, and technical decision records that promote consistent, high-quality technical decisions across the Healthcare product portfolio.
  • Mentor and coach software engineers in design thinking, code quality, architectural awareness, and technical decision-making.
  • Provide technical leadership without direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to support successful integrations with financial and operational systems.
  • Communicate effectively with company leadership, customers, and vendors when needed.
