About The Position

Under general direction from the Recreation/Community Programs Coordinator, officiates youth and adult softball games following United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) rules; ensures game play is fair and safe; supports organized competition. The Adult Softball Umpire is a part-time, at-will, class responsible for officiating adult recreation league softball games. Position may work daytime, evenings, nighttime, and weekends to support the public’s participation in recreational softball. Adult Softball Umpires must be dependable and timely in reporting to work in support of scheduled programming.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Softball Umpire
• Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of baseball and softball through previous participation at a recreation or competitive level
• Extensive background check
• Pre-employment physical
• Drug screen

Nice To Haves

• Prior officiating experience is a plus
• Slow pitch softball officiating certificate is desired
