About The Position

Apply materials science and engineering principles to develop, process, and test materials to create solutions that meet specific technical and performance criteria, utilizing a systems engineering approach and engineering tools, including DE and physical, to optimize material selection and improve manufacturing processes. Apply specific functional knowledge and working or general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance and may review or guide activities of more junior employees.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in soft goods manufacturing, product creation, research and development, product testing, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, design sketches, or 2D or 3D CAD or CAM files
  • Experience analyzing digital data sources to inform product decisions or technical requirements
  • Knowledge of pattern engineering, tooling, materials, test methodologies, and manufacturing processes for footwear, apparel, or individual equipment
  • Knowledge of industry trends and advancements in automated manufacturing processes
  • Ability to identify and drive valuable engineering solutions from concept through manufacturing
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in quality assurance or quality engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with 2D or 3D pattern engineering and CAD tools used in footwear or soft goods creation
  • Experience designing and manufacturing soft goods for military products
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems for managing product design and development
  • Experience implementing design for manufacturability practices in direct collaboration with Tier 1 and 2 manufacturers
  • Knowledge of pattern making, materials, and construction across a variety of product types, including apparel, footwear, soft goods, and individual equipment
  • Knowledge of government specifications such as P/Ds, MIL-DTLs, and MIL-PRFs
  • Secret clearance
