About The Position

Student Assistants will work under the direct supervision of professional staff or faculty to provide support in the Sociology department. This role involves assisting with various office and event-related tasks, maintaining departmental spaces, and providing clerical support. There is also an opportunity to contribute to social media management.

Requirements

• Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
• Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
• In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
• Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
• Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
• Ability to follow oral instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
• Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Nice To Haves

• Interest or experience in social media management, including content creation and event documentation

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort students and visitors to faculty offices or student lounges
• Assist with event setup and take down
• Create, maintain, and replenish flyers in the front office
• Maintain student lounges by removing outdated flyers/items, tidying up, and keeping the space neat and organized
• Contribute to scheduling and calendar organization for office activities
• Assist faculty with copy requests and the distribution of office supplies
• Provide clerical and office support to faculty and staff when primary responsibilities are minimal
• Contribute to social media management, including content creation and event documentation when primary duties are minimal
