Social Worker – Mood, Anxiety and Personality Disorders Track - Partial Hospitalization Program
About The Position
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a Social Worker for their Mood, Anxiety and Personality Disorders Track within the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This program offers comprehensive evaluation and intensive, short-term treatment to adults aged 18 and older with acute psychiatric illnesses, including mood, anxiety, and personality disorders. The program aims to prevent or facilitate step-down from inpatient hospitalization by providing a structured, supportive, group-based environment for individuals who can live in the community. Social workers play a crucial role in the interdisciplinary healthcare team, assisting patients and families in understanding and coping with medical, psychological, and social issues related to their illness. The position involves providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy, as well as discharge planning.
Requirements
- Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)
- Previous experience in a psychiatric setting using CBT and/or DBT
- Competency in individual, family and group treatment modalities and treatment techniques appropriate to an acute outpatient treatment setting
- Knowledge base of bio-psychosocial model, DSM-V diagnoses, criteria for treatment of different diagnoses in an acute care setting, behavioral risk factors and of the impact of mental illness upon individual and family functioning
- Knowledge base of community and discharge planning resources and processes
- Experience using an electronic medical record
Nice To Haves
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the treatment of adult psychiatric patients
- Training in CBT and/or DBT
