The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is establishing a new Transition Age Youth Office within the Children and Family Law Division. This office aims to improve representation and advocacy for young adults and transition-aged youth navigating the family regulation system. The Social Worker will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to both legal and life outcomes for these youth. The office will initially operate remotely, with a future physical location planned in the Metro West or Greater Boston area, possibly Framingham. CPCS is dedicated to equal justice and human dignity, supporting clients in achieving their legal and life goals through zealous advocacy and promoting just public policy. The agency's values include Courage, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. CPCS is committed to protecting constitutional and human rights through excellent legal representation, embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion in its mission. The agency provides legal representation to those who cannot afford an attorney in various case types, including criminal, delinquency, family regulation, and mental health matters. CPCS serves a diverse client base and emphasizes cultural competence among its staff. The Transition Age Youth (TAY) Office specifically provides multidisciplinary support for transition-aged youth, focusing on Care and Protection cases (ages 14-22), Children Requiring Assistance, and Permanency for Young Adult cases. The TAY Office is part of the Family Justice Advocates (FJA), which handles cases where conflicts prevent standard CAFL attorneys from representing parties. The TAY Office will consist of an Attorney in Charge, trial attorneys, a social worker, an administrative assistant, and a peer support specialist.
