The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is establishing a new Transition Age Youth (TAY) Office within the Children and Family Law Division. This office aims to improve representation and advocacy for young adults and transition-age youth involved in the family regulation system. The TAY Office will operate remotely initially, with a final location expected in Framingham or another Metro West/Greater Boston area. CPCS is dedicated to equal justice and human dignity, zealously advocating for clients' rights and promoting just public policy. The agency provides legal representation to individuals who cannot afford an attorney in various case types, emphasizing cultural competence and respect for diverse client backgrounds. The TAY Office specifically focuses on Care and Protection cases for youth aged 14-22, Children Requiring Assistance, and Permanency for Young Adult cases. The office will be staffed by an Attorney in Charge, trial attorneys, a social worker, an administrative assistant, and a peer support specialist. The Social Worker will be an integral part of this multidisciplinary team, partnering with attorneys to enhance both legal and life outcomes for youth exiting the family regulation system. Social work interventions will occur throughout the court and advocacy process. The Social Worker will report to the Attorney in Charge of the TAY Office and participate in regular supervision and statewide social work meetings and trainings.
