About The Position
The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is seeking a compassionate and motivated Social Worker to provide essential clinical support to youth in secure care settings at the Jetson Center for Youth. This role involves assisting with therapeutic services, supporting case management, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote emotional well-being, rehabilitation, and positive behavioral change. The position offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of youth and develop clinical skills within a trauma-informed, youth-centered care framework.
Requirements
- Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Social Worker (CSW).
- A master's degree in social work.
- Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).
- Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License.
- Must clear a background check.
- Must authorize the HR Office of Juvenile Justice to contact prior employers to check references under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).
Nice To Haves
- Permanent status will not be granted in this job title without LMSW or LCSW licensure in Louisiana; Certified Social Worker (CSW) credential will not be accepted for granting permanent status.
Responsibilities
- Assist with therapeutic services and provide supportive counseling to youth under supervision.
- Help with case management tasks, documentation, and treatment planning.
- Conduct interviews, gather social histories, and support assessments of youth needs.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate services.
- Observe and report youth behavior, progress, and safety concerns.
- Apply trauma-informed, culturally competent practices in all interactions.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
- Perform related duties to support youth rehabilitation and clinical operations.
