The 163rd Street Improvement Council empowers individuals and families including veterans, the formerly incarcerated, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those with physical, cognitive, or developmental challenges by providing housing and connecting them to the resources, support, and opportunities needed to transition from homelessness to stable, healthy, and fulfilling lives. Founded in 1966, the 163rd Street Improvement Council, Inc., was established to address the chronic, systemic lack of resources in the South Bronx. As pioneers in housing justice in the Bronx, we began by developing affordable housing for some of our most vulnerable Bronx residents.
