The Social Work department provides emotional support and counseling to children and their families. They provide crisis intervention services, help with adjustment issues, grief and loss counseling, mental health assessments, case coordination, community advocate support, and short-term therapeutic interventions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work required.
  • Experience providing crisis intervention.
  • Two years experience with counseling in a health care related setting or two years experience in a pediatric related setting or completion of graduate internship in either of the above settings.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to provide good, clear documentation of work.
  • Minnesota State LGSW, LICSW preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma informed care and work from an equity lens to support patients and families facing unexpected admissions, trauma, grief/loss, end of life and basic needs.
  • Complete crisis mental health assessments.
  • Support timely transfers or safe discharges developed in partnership with caregivers.
  • Cross train to cover in both St. Paul and Minneapolis with ability to provide virtual support between campuses.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to children and their families.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Help with adjustment issues.
  • Provide grief and loss counseling.
  • Conduct mental health assessments.
  • Provide case coordination.
  • Provide community advocate support.
  • Provide short-term therapeutic interventions.
