About The Position

The Social Work department provides emotional support and counseling to children and their families. They provide crisis intervention services, help with adjustment issues, grief and loss counseling, mental health assessments, case coordination, community advocate support, and short-term therapeutic interventions. This position is intended for a strong LGSW social worker, who may occasionally work in tandem with the on-site LICSW social worker while providing services hospital wide. Pediatric social workers provide these services to children 0-18 years of age and their families.

Requirements

  • Minnesota State LGSW, LICSW preferred
  • Master's degree in social work required.
  • Experience providing crisis intervention.
  • Two years experience with counseling in a health care related setting or two years experience in a pediatric related setting or completion of graduate internship in either of the above settings.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to provide good, clear documentation of work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention and resource mobilization for families and children who have complex psycho-social and emotional needs in a multi-disciplinary pediatric hospital setting.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to children and their families.
