About The Position

The main purpose of the Managed Care Coordinator is to provide documentation for the Administrative Service Organization (ASO) and act as a direct liaison with the ASO. The Managed Care Coordinator will also provide documentation for private insurance companies and act as a liaison with those companies, the clinical staff, and the financial agent. This position requires someone who demonstrates specific expertise in understanding the symptoms and treatments for clients with diagnoses, which are typically seen in emotionally disabled adolescents. This position requires someone who can work effectively with a treatment team made up of nursing/residential, educational and rehabilitation staff as well as social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists to provide treatment that is family driven & youth guided. The incumbent of this position must also be able to generate the extensive documentation such as treatment plans, progress notes and reports required in a contemporary mental health context.

Requirements

  • Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.
  • Two years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
  • Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service.
  • Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Nice To Haves

  • School Social Workers must possess three semester hours of special education coursework and possess a certificate from the Maryland Board of Education in School Social Work as per COMAR 13A.12.04.11.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting.
  • Experience coordinating with insurance companies, managed care organizations, or Administrative Service Organizations (ASOs) regarding behavioral health services and documentation requirements.
