About The Position

The Extra Help/Social Worker will work collaboratively with Community Programs leadership, staff, school partners, and university faculty to strengthen Social-Emotional Wellness and Learning (SEWL) initiatives through the supervision of social work interns, development of practical intervention resources, and consultation with staff to support evidence-informed social-emotional practices. This position is designed to build organizational capacity by developing practical intervention resources, mentoring future social workers, and equipping Community Programs staff with tools and strategies that promote positive youth development and social-emotional wellness. Staffing this role ensures grant compliance and strengthens the university's commitment to youth development and community engagement, aligning with our institutional mission. The position renewal is contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory job performance. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or families
  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks, trauma-informed practices, positive youth development, and child/adolescent development
  • Knowledge of evidence-informed social work practices, ethical standards, and community resources
  • Ability to supervise and mentor social work interns while fostering professional growth
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, consultation, and communication skills
  • Experience developing practical intervention resources and implementation tools
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other technology used for communication, documentation, and resource development
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Experience serving as a field instructor or supervising others
  • Experience working in K–12 schools or school-based support programs

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise assigned social work interns in accordance with university field education requirements
  • Provide consultation and professional guidance to Community Programs staff regarding social-emotional and behavioral support strategies
  • Develop and maintain an organized intervention resource library addressing common student behavioral and social-emotional concerns
  • Create practical implementation guides, activities, and evidence-informed resources for staff, interns, and school partners
  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities related to youth development, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional wellness
  • Collaborate with university faculty and community partners to support successful internship experiences
  • Participate in program planning meetings and other activities as requested
