About The Position

This is a specialized position within the Special Victims Unit (SVU) as the Social Work Supervisor. This position will provide direct supervision to a team of Child Welfare Specialist IIIs who conduct investigations on complex child abuse/neglect cases to include child trafficking, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, fatalities, foster homes, and group homes. This team is responsible for providing community-based services to individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues that could include child and adult abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation, mental health concerns, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, housing, childcare, or medical care. The Social Work Supervisor will provide direct supervision, training, support, review and evaluation of professional technical and para-professional staff involved in areas which could include Social Services or Public Health. This position compiles reports and data to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures as well as assignment and monitoring of cases. This position provides feedback to staff to enhance their capabilities to perform efficiently. This position will be located at 430 Stitt Rd, Charlotte, NC 28213. Please note this position may require after hours (after 5:00 pm) and weekend work as needed.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of social services or human services experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Health or related field
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
Requires County Driving Privileges

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Social Work preferred
Five plus years of Child Welfare experience preferred
Three years of Investigations, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
Demonstrated experience in conducting physical abuse, sexual abuse, and fatality investigations training completion: (Responding to Child Sex Abuse, The Art of Narrative Interview: Skills for Meaningful Engagement, Understanding and Screening Trauma)

Responsibilities

Supervise, train and evaluate the performance of technical and para-professional staff
Consult with teams and staff on individual case assignments
Develop procedures to meet department or program goals, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.
Reviews information with teams or staff members to provide guidance and direction in the delivery of services
Establish performance objectives, conducts periodic reviews and monitors progress
Monitor budget activities and adjusts expenditures and makes recommendations as appropriate
Review and audits staff cases and workloads to prioritize duties and referrals for new cases
Complete monthly and quarterly program reports
Provide consultation to staff in complex case situations, acute emergencies, or cases which require a high level decision
Communicate with and visit other public and private welfare agencies, hospitals and other institutions in order to exchange information and develop resources
Seek additional sources to increase funding and expand services
Review and analyze activity reports and statistics for continuous awareness of program operation
May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster
