About The Position

Performs a variety of supervisory, program management, education, and clinical activities in the Social Work department. This position oversees daily operations, leads performance improvement initiatives, develops educational programs, and performs clinical care including patient evaluation, treatment, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordination. The role also involves supervising assigned personnel, coordinating tasks, providing leadership, fostering teamwork, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements

Master’s degree in social work.
Current unrestricted license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
A minimum of 3 years clinical experience in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work, preferably including experience with Medical Social Work.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with people.
Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Proficiency with Microsoft office products.

Responsibilities

Oversees daily operations in the Social Work department, ensuring equitable caseload assignment and coordinating staff schedules to meet operational needs.
Leads Performance Improvement Initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, ensuring compliance with standards and patient satisfaction. Develops Social Work onboarding initiatives and strengthens partnerships with Universities with MSW programs for field placements and pipeline development. Prepares and presents reports, and acts as a team leader, facilitator, or member for clinical areas and interdisciplinary initiatives.
Ensures clinical divisions comply with departmental policies and meet accreditation, regulatory, and quality standards for clinical care delivery and documentation. Evaluates existing programs for improvement opportunities to ensure high quality and cost-effective practice. Collaborates with Social Work and Social Work Management to ensure consistency in practice.
Creates and builds educational programs for the Social Work Department, including continuing education, applying for applicable credits, creating an onboarding process, and ensuring compliance with annual requirements.
Performs clinical care, including patient evaluation, treatment, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordination. Completes clinical documentation and other activities as described in staff job descriptions.
Supervises assigned personnel, including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes recommendations on employee actions (hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations) and resolves grievances.
Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems, evaluating the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.
Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership to staff for teamwork and motivation, fostering integration with system-wide initiatives.
Encourages and supports diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to a professional, respectful, tolerant, civil, and accepting environment.
Integrates diversity into departmental objectives, such as hiring, promotions, training, and vendor selections.
Participates in performance improvement initiatives and uses quality improvement in daily operations.
Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission and DPH, and develops/maintains necessary procedures.
Ensures department complies with hospital policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
Ensures adequate equipment and supplies for the department.
Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
Performs similar or related duties as required or directed.
