About The Position

The Social Work Practitioner will function as a consultant to county child welfare agencies, providing guidance and oversight to all 100 counties in the management of high-risk child welfare cases that overlap with medical issues. This role involves reviewing and consulting with counties during CPS assessments. The team operates 24/7/365, requiring all Social Work Practitioners to participate in the on-call structure. The practitioner will oversee specific types of cases, including injuries in young children under 3, concerns for STIs in children under 3, cases where another child in the home has died due to suspected maltreatment, suspicion of medical child abuse/Munchausen by Proxy, and cases involving children with medical complexity. Additionally, this position will contribute to the development of educational materials and policy suggestions, and provide training on medical aspects to child welfare with rostered CME clinicians. This role does not involve testifying in court or meeting with families directly; instead, it supports the knowledge and skill development of county CPS child welfare supervisors regarding state policy.
