About The Position

Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital is seeking an empathetic and dedicated Social Work/Counseling Intern (Outpatient) to positively impact the mental well-being of individuals. This internship offers the opportunity to work with geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients in an outpatient setting. Interns will gain experience in clinical assessments, treatment planning, and group facilitation under the supervision of licensed clinicians. They will also assist with determining the level of care, initiating admissions, and scheduling aftercare appointments and social service supports. This role involves participating in various activities that support the social services, outpatient, and intake departments.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in 2nd year MSW or accredited counseling/psychology program at an approved school.
  • Must be in an LPC or LSW eligible program.
  • Must be on-site 3 days per week as scheduled by assigned program.
  • Must be willing to commit to interning for at least 2 full semesters.
  • Must be on site during school breaks.
  • Must be able to attend 2 week Monday through Friday, on site orientation and training prior to starting their internship.
  • Must be able to pass a competency exam and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Completing clinical or psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and skills-based groups with geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
  • Assisting masters level clinicians with obtaining information to determine level of care and initiating admission to inpatient or outpatient services.
  • Aiding program therapists with scheduling aftercare appointments and social service supports.
  • Participating in assigned activities that support the function of the social services, outpatient, and intake departments.
