About The Position

This is a .5 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) position for a Social Studies Teacher. The role requires a valid Iowa teaching license with an endorsement in 5-12 Social Sciences - All, 5-12 World History, or 5-12 American Government. Previous high school teaching experience is preferred. The position involves both personal and professional performance criteria, focusing on interpersonal relationships, creating a positive work environment, professional growth, understanding diversity, and supporting student behavior. Instructionally, the teacher will adhere to local curriculum standards, communicate learning goals, create a conducive classroom environment, manage student behavior effectively, prepare lessons, utilize technology, and employ various instructional techniques. Assessment strategies will be used to inform instruction and intervention, with ongoing assessment of student progress. Professional responsibilities include a commitment to growth, collaboration, staying informed on district policies, and participating in curriculum development and building/district assignments. The employment term is a 194-day contract.
