About The Position

Browns River Middle School is seeking a certified teacher with a focus of instruction at the 5th and 6th grade level for English Language Arts and Social Studies. The school has approximately 400 students in grades 5-8 and utilizes grade-level teams with two core teachers per team. Their teaching model includes differentiated instruction in collaboration with special educators in all Math and ELA classes, with co-teaching playing a key role. The district is committed to supporting all learners by eradicating bias and graduating students with critical literacy and equity literacy skills. They are particularly interested in applicants with diverse experiences who share this commitment and are invested in the success of every learner, engaging in continuing capacity building to support diverse learners.

Requirements

Certified teacher.
Focus of instruction at the 5th and 6th grade level for English Language Arts and Social Studies.
Demonstrate an understanding of, and/or have experience with the reading and writing workshop model.
Knowledge of the C3 standards that inform social studies planning, instruction, assessment, and the inquiry model.
Understanding and experience working within a proficiency-based learning environment.
Willing to collaborate with their team colleague as well as team special educators.
Value and implement inclusive and equitable teaching practices.
Ability to create strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Ability to effectively communicate and develop partnerships with families.
Strong planning and instructional skills at the middle school level.
Values the importance of data and feedback to inform instruction.
Uses and understands the importance of formative assessment.
Ability and experience to organize classroom spaces, systems and procedures.
Possess effective classroom behavior management skills.
