About The Position
Oxford Middle School is seeking a skilled and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our academic team for the upcoming 2026-2027 School Year. We are looking for an educator who is committed to fostering student growth within a supportive and collaborative school environment.
Requirements
- Valid Connecticut Social Studies (026) certification
- Strong, effective communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a professional team environment
- Proactive team player
- Dedication to providing a positive and meaningful learning experience for students
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching at the middle school level
Responsibilities
- Teach middle school social studies courses in alignment with district curriculum and Connecticut standards
- Create a structured and engaging classroom environment that encourages historical thinking, civic engagement, inquiry, analysis, and effective communication skills
- Utilize primary and secondary sources, discussion, writing, and project-based learning to deepen student understanding of historical and contemporary issues
- Collaborate with colleagues and staff to support student achievement and school initiatives
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom expectations
- Complete all required administrative duties, including grading and reporting on student performance
- Think flexibly and adapt to the specific instructional needs of students
- Collect data to measure impact on instruction and student achievement
- Work in an inclusionary/co-teaching model
