About The Position

This posting is for a Long Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher position at Falmouth High School for the 2026-2027 School Year. Requirements

  • Massachusetts licensure: History/Social Science, 5 - 12, required
  • SEI Teacher Endorsement, preferred
  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment, required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to teach all levels of high school history and social studies
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully motivating students of varying ability levels, skills, and readiness
  • Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Develop curricular objectives and implementation strategies in alignment with state learning standards.
  • Design, implement, and revise curricular units and develop clear grading protocols.
  • Develop daily and long-range plans relating instruction to student needs, curricular objectives, and state learning standards.
  • Advance excellence and equity through instructional practices for diverse learners, including advanced students, multilingual English language learners, and students with 504 plans or special education services.
  • Implement a variety of instructional techniques to ensure student engagement, growth, and achievement.
  • Develop effective relationships with students.
  • Evaluate each student's progress in social studies skills, knowledge, and understanding.
  • Develop and state a clear and consistent grading procedure for courses.
  • Keep accurate grading and attendance records.
  • Routinely communicate with students, families, colleagues, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress.
  • Employ classroom management strategies to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Attend professional meetings as required and scheduled.
  • Accept supervision and guidance from the Department Head and Principal.
  • Serve on committees for curriculum revision and school operation.
  • Continue professional growth through attendance at meetings, conferences, seminars, professional literature, and college courses.
  • Accept assignments in other areas for which they are trained or certified.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Department Head, and/or Director of Teaching & Learning.
