About The Position

Samueli Academy is seeking a Long Term Social Studies Substitute Teacher for grades 9-12. This full-time, temporary position is expected to cover the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year, from mid-October to June 6, 2027, with a projected start date of October 20, 2026. The role involves instruction centered on Project/Problem-Based Learning, a 1:1 Chromebook program, and fostering a collaborative, respectful culture with an emphasis on 21st-century skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to raise student achievement for a wide range of learners and collaborate with other teachers, integrating curricula. Teachers at Samueli Academy also advise students through a weekly advisory program, focusing on intra-class relations and personal learning plan development.

Requirements

• Valid California Single Subject Mathematics Credential authorizing teaching in assigned classroom/subject matter.
• Equivalent of CLAD Certification.
• Ability to teach and assess content via Samueli Academy’s School-Wide Learning Outcomes: Oral Communication, Written Communication, and Collaboration.
• Experience in engaging students in hands-on learning while maintaining academic rigor.
• Ability to teach diverse learners and well-versed in instructional strategies for serving a wide range of students.
• Experience in integrating technology into teaching and supporting student learning using technology.
• Collaborative, skilled in interdisciplinary planning, and able to work well with a wide range of constituents (colleagues, parents, students, community members, etc.).
• Knowledge of the curriculum appropriate to the grade level/position.
• Knowledge of instructional skills, classroom management skills, communication skills, and job responsibility.
• Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
• DMV clearance.
• Pre-employment screenings include a criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, and drug test.
• In accordance with California Education Code Section 44939.5, as amended by AB 2534, all applicants for certificated positions must provide a complete and accurate record of all employment with Local Educational Agencies (LEAs), school districts, or other educational institutions.
• Verification of employment history, including information from previous employers regarding credible allegations, investigations, or disciplinary actions related to egregious misconduct.
