About The Position

The Social Services Supervisor/Expert (SSS/E) oversees 3-4 Social Services Advisors who manage approximately 50-60 residential cases and 20-30 aftercare cases. This position reviews commitment orders, completes demographic backgrounds with parents/guardians to identify youth needs, and conducts monthly visits with all youth on their caseloads (approximately 40-50 cases). This requires travel to 6-8 sites across the state and to various courts. The role involves face-to-face visits with youth, phone calls with guardians, building strong relationships with youth and families, attending Treatment Team Meetings, providing information via the Monthly Case Coordinator Questionnaire Form, maintaining contact with Treatment Team Members, monitoring treatment plan goal compliance, completing Monthly Social Service Advisor Treatment Team Progress Reports, and reviewing progress reports from contracted programs. The SSS/E coordinates and attends meetings with providers, maintains compliance with DYS/DCFS cooperation agreements, attends DCFS staffings, and assists with placement issues and completing required applications. They obtain and review information for various packets including Adolescent Sexual Assessment Project (ASAP), Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction (EJJ), Interstate Compact (ICJ), dual custody staffing reports (DCFS), Registration Risk Assessment (RRA), and complete updated SAVRY assessments every six months. The position also reviews/submits discharge summaries and aftercare plans, tracks and initiates commitment order extensions, and contacts courts for hearings or release notifications. The SSS/E serves as a liaison with court officials, contracted programs, guardians, and stakeholders, and addresses grievances and issues regarding unmet youth needs with Quality Assurance. This position requires thoroughness, knowledge, preparedness, organization, and attention to detail to manage staff and their own caseloads. This position functions as a Juvenile Case Management Supervisor. Knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System and PREA Standards is preferred. Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of work experience in human services programs or public service work.
  • One year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Required to have a background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check.
  • Case management and service coordination.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Arkansas social service laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in data management, reporting, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and cultural competency.
  • Understanding of behavioral health and protective services.
  • Leadership and mentorship skills for supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and review information for Adolescent Sexual Assessment Project (ASAP), Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction (EJJ) packet, Interstate Compact packet (ICJ), prepare dual custody staffing reports (DCFS), and Registration Risk Assessment (RRA).
  • Complete an updated SAVRY every six months that is filed with the courts.
  • Review/submit discharge summaries and aftercare plans as a completed packet to the committing courts.
  • Track and initiate commitment order extensions when necessary on youth.
  • Contact courts for court hearings or notifications for a youth's release.
  • Serve as a liaison with court officials, contracted programs, guardians, and stakeholders for the youth's case.
  • Address and report to Quality Assurance any grievances and issues regarding the youth's needs not being met by the program.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate social services staff.
  • Develop and implement policy and program initiatives to improve service delivery.
  • Conduct program audits and quality assurance to ensure compliance.
  • Provide expertise in crisis intervention, case management, and legal compliance.
  • Coordinate with government agencies, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
  • Lead statewide social services initiatives and high-priority programs.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise in crisis management, program development, and inter-agency collaboration.
