About The Position

This role is responsible for the operation of all Salvation Army Social Service programs, including but not limited to Food Bank Program, Utility & Rental Assistance Program, Sally’s Closet, Winter Warming Shelter, Pathway of Hope Program, Seasonal Assistance (Thanksgiving & Christmas), Summer Camp, Back to School Program, and local grant funding. The position also involves community outreach, networking, and case management.

Requirements

  • BS degree in social work or related field required.
  • Knowledge of local community resources.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude & an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds & circumstances.
  • Able to maintain a non-judgmental demeanor, using a professional approach and maintaining boundaries with clients.
  • Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless & working poor by utilizing crisis intervention, & conflict resolution skills.
  • A proven ability to maximize services with budgetary constraints.
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in Salvation Army approved Social Service programs, network requirements, and Link 2 Feed program from United Food Bank.
  • Ability to work efficiently on a diverse and cohesive team.
  • Computer literate & proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Publisher.
  • Ability to work in an office setting & operate office equipment.
  • Must be able to type 50 wpm.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and clean MVR & pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety e-learning.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

  • Years of experience in a social service capacity may substitute for education in a 2:1 ratio.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of all Salvation Army Social Service programs including Food Bank Program, Utility & Rental Assistance Program, Sally’s Closet, Winter Warming Shelter, Pathway of Hope Program, Seasonal Assistance (Thanksgiving & Christmas), Summer Camp, Back to School Program, and Local grant funding.
  • Determining eligibility for programs.
  • Maintaining records for all programs.
  • Monitoring costs associated with programs.
  • Overseeing staff involved in program operations.
  • Securing and training volunteers, and recording statistics related to volunteers.
  • Inventory control for program supplies and goods.
  • Intake of clients into programs.
  • Distribution of funds and goods to clients.
  • Promotion of special events related to social services.
  • Case Management for clients.
  • Securing outside vendors (e.g., motels, transportation companies) to assist clients.
  • Recording and filing (electronically) of all casework documents.
  • Preparing and submitting all required daily, weekly, and monthly reports and statistics.
  • Communicating the supply needs of the Family Service Office to the supervisor.
  • Community Outreach and Networking with local community partners to enhance Salvation Army social service programs.
  • Attending community Social Service Impact meetings, public relations & special events and seminars as directed.
  • Building positive working relationships with ancillary entities that provide support for Salvation Army initiatives.
  • Managing seasonal activities including Thanksgiving and Christmas intake & distribution procedures.
  • Networking with other holiday providers in the community.
  • Helping with the angel tree program, especially with the production of angel tree tags.
  • Overseeing all aspects of day-to-day case management.
  • Maintaining a client caseload.
  • Completing intake on all eligible clients and maintaining the Well Sky database.
  • Providing supervision and direction to social service staff.
  • Working collaboratively to provide service excellence to clients.
  • Answering incoming calls and assisting with the overall operation of the office.
  • Observing and ensuring compliance with all Salvation Army, city, county, state, and federal rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Assisting with Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) intake and receiving & processing food donations for EDS.
  • Researching, creating, & proposing alternative methodologies of service delivery to extend outreach of social service programs.
  • Developing and proposing new programs to enhance current offerings of the Prescott Corps Social Service Department.
  • Working in conjunction with the Divisional Social Service Director & Divisional Grant Writer, to enhance & expand programs.
  • Researching & exploring opportunities for local grant funds available in support of current & proposed social service programs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned as related to the position of Social Service Coordinator.
