About The Position

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Social Services Analyst 1/2/3 for its Tangipahoa Parish Child Support Enforcement office in Amite, LA. This program assists parents in providing emotional, financial, and medical support for their children. The role involves helping non-custodial parents meet their obligations through services such as parent locator, paternity establishment, and enforcement of child support orders. The ideal candidate will possess strong competencies in effective communication, adherence to policies and procedures, and making accurate judgments.

Requirements

Three years of experience in social services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Must possess a valid driver's license & access to a personal vehicle before appointment.
Must successfully pass a stringent background investigation before access is granted to Federal Tax Information (FTI).

Responsibilities

Initiates and executes legal processes including interviewing clients, relatives, landlords and other persons to gather information on location of absent parents.
Researches files, directories, Office of Motor Vehicle records, property records and other resources to find leads on whereabouts of parents.
Explains legal requirements, calculates support payments, determines appropriate legal action and meets with parents to obtain paternity, child support and medical support.
Prepares affidavits and financial audits and initiates legal actions such as subpoenas, petitions and orders.
Attends court in one or more districts.
Performs a high volume of case work for a demanding public in need of services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
