About The Position

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Social Services Analyst 1/2/3 for its Child Support Enforcement office in Tangipahoa, LA. This program assists parents in providing financial, medical, and emotional support for their children. The role involves ensuring non-custodial parents meet their obligations for child support. The ideal candidate will possess competencies in accepting direction, effective communication, accountability, ethics and integrity, adaptability to change, and problem-solving.

Requirements

Three years of experience in social services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

Initiates and executes legal processes, including interviewing clients, relatives, landlords, and other persons to gather information on the location of absent parents.
Researches files, directories, Office of Motor Vehicle records, property records, and other resources to find leads on the whereabouts of parents.
Explains legal requirements, calculates support payments, determines appropriate legal action, and meets with parents to obtain paternity, child support, and medical support.
Prepares affidavits and financial audits and initiates legal actions such as subpoenas, petitions, and orders.
Attends court in one or more districts.
Performs a high volume of casework for a demanding public in need of services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
