About The Position

This position is responsible for transporting children and coordinating and supervising visitation between children and families to support safe and positive family interactions. The successful candidate will also receive and process reports of abuse and neglect involving children and vulnerable adults. Reports are received in person, by phone, and through email, and must be accurately documented and entered into the department’s data management system. In addition, this position provides support to professional social services workers and assists public social services agency staff with daily case management activities. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work compassionately with individuals and families in sensitive situations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs) OR 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of parenting.
  • Knowledge of policies regarding child protection and benefits.
  • Knowledge of the community or institution to be served.
  • Background information check, including taking fingerprints.

Responsibilities

  • Transports clients to appointments, visitations, treatment centers, and foster care facilities.
  • Sets up visitation schedules.
  • Supervises parental visits with children and monitors telephone calls.
  • Conducts parenting classes.
  • Gives testimony in court regarding observation of the client and the family.
  • Assists with file management, computer file entries, and case narratives; ensures that all data is accurate and up-to-date in the WYCAPS system.
  • Provides in-home checks and services.
  • Monitors urinalysis, school grades, and attendance.
  • Fully documents all contact with clients and children.
  • Confers with the Social Services Worker regarding client progress and case plans.
